Some pictures, from which I was lifting coordinates, have been lost in the Forum Merge so apologies (particularly to JT) for those omissions.

National Memorial Cemetary of the Pacific (The Punchbowl), Oahu. Tilting the GE image shows the elevation of the volvanic plateau.

And the British thanks. As more Brits served at Gallipoli than ANZACs.

Sorry to be pedantic but I just wanted to highlight a often forgotten fact that between 1500 and1700 died at Gallipoli too.

More French soldiers died at Gallipoli than ANZAC, but that said few people remember Gallipoli with the passion that our Australian and New Zealand friends do. That is very evident on the battlefields even today.

Not WW2 either but that wierd 900x700 metre Chinese 'training model' can be seen here.
(link will open Google earth and take you straight there, don't click if you can't be bothered :))

Apparently it perfectly represents an area on the border with India, as discussed here

Adam - how do you set up a Google Earth link in the way you did? I want to do this with my cemeteries website and can't figure it out.

That is really high-res image isn't it?
Not surprising the satellites zoomed in on that one.
    Wonder what they're up to?

PS How do you do those links?

I'd love to see a few more pictures of the 'wargame table', there's some with 'giant' blokes walking over it.

Paul, they're called '.kmz' files, I copied and pasted that one from The Register's website. It seems the saved placename or kmz has to be 'live' somewhere online, presumably as part of your site & on your server. You then insert a normal link to that Info.

Google guide here (bottom of the page) not very clear but 'KMZ' turns up a lot of other web info, trying to work out how to do it properly myself now.
