Always surprises me how far the Red Army could go even when the logistical sinews were straining. For an example Bessanov's 'Tank Rider' reads like an incessant search for food as much as the enemy, but the attacks still constantly go in right up to Berlin.

but maybe, wars like this are won by those who have to fight in worse conditions ?

The way I see, the Germans fought very well in spite of being stabbed in the back by Hitler. The Russians fought very well in spite of being stabbed in the back by Stalin.

Here's a thought. Would Russia had won it the East had Germany been backe by the U.S.?

    I don't think so.

On the original premise; Could it be 'The bomb', and even the threat of it, that really won the war?
Certainly the arbiter of a rather peculiar peace for c.50 years afterwards.

I dunno. The Germans had run into a dead end with the "heavy water" (Deuterium) research. I have a feeling that they thought the U.S. was having similar setbacks.

though, i don't think that ''stabbing in the back'' was the case...

    that's the point !!
the main contribution the US made was that it backed Stalin instead of Hitler.

And without that backing (and untold 1000s of cans of Spam), Russia could very well have lost the war with Germany.

Italians are not made to fight, they lose against Greece and needed german help on the Balkans.
By the way as you mantion it i remamber that i saw information about italian soldiers on the eastern front, but i can't remamber if it wasn't one of those 'incorect' infos on internet.

    yes, it could.
though, no Eastern Block / Warsaw Pact would have ensued in such case.

we should have stayed out of the war then and left the ussr to conker and rule the world.

and fight the germans, japs & italians

but maybe you would have been fighting on two fronts and with streatched resourses

T-34 the war was won by the efforts of all western allies, and if they were not fighting against the nazi's Soviet Union wouldn't won the war by his own efforts and not helped by the western countrys. I know you russians are a bit selfish but your selfishness and disrespect is way too much.So mate stop listening Sacred war or stop watching "Bitva za Moscva" and step on the ground.Things were a bit different you know those movies are pure propaganda.
