Was there a problem this morning? as I tried several times to access the site but could not.

All other websites I tried opened up so I left it to get a haircut and on returning managed to log on straight away.

I also experienced slow responses last night.

    Regards
    Tom

To all who got a non-functioning site for the last few minutes.
Sorry, that'd be me changing something I really really really shouldn't have changed while trying to address a problem some have reported when logging in.

Just off to change my trousers.

Recently if attempting to connect around 7:30 Rome (GMT+1) time, I get an error, is there regular maintenance like backups running at that time ?

Yes, ToS, they are - assorted auto routines and cron-jobs for tidying the place.
Mentioned on here a while back, I tried spreading 'em out but it didn't seem to make a lot of difference.

Something strange this morning: I'm getting a 403 Forbidden from search results links:

You don't have permission to access /forum/books-films-tv-radio/30194-abda-cbi-seac-book-thread-post346492.html on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

The problem persists after logging out, restarting IE and logging in again. Have I upset someone?

Can't replicate that result here, mate. Though as I'm on my phone that's pretty meaningless.
What exactly were the search terms you used?
Does it happen on all of the search boxes?

Is anyone else getting the same thing on searches?

Yep, getting exactly the same response as Idler after a search.

Hmm... could it have been an apstrophe in the original search causing a problem?

Apostrophes can screw it up for some reason - that would hinge on whether Jonathan used one too? (or some other syntax thing).

I can't replicate the fail on IE, Firefox, Chrome or Safari as yet - using plain words.

Thanks for looking - everything else I've tried since seems OK.

No apostrophes, Adam. I just searched again using the phrase south lancashire with a single space between south and lancashire and got the following:

I'm using chrome on the Mac at the moment. I also tried using Safari. I found the thread I wanted by scrolling through the correct sub-forum and it's fine that way. Odd.

I just got that too using those words.
Hmmmm, perhaps we have a Yorkshire search engine on our hands...

    Looking deeper.

Jonathan- I just tried that phrase and no problem at all

ps VP maybe it just works for us Yorkshire folk!

Well I just tried again and can link to this thread immediately but got the error when I tried to link to Phil's South Lancashire thread. Out of curiosity I searched for the word 'Tyke' and got no problems either. ;)

OK, As re-indexing the search engine can turn the place to porridge, I'm going to leave it for an hour before trying that - browsing about this may be a (hopefully) temporary hosting issue that will clear on it's own.

Will rebuild thread info though, as that's quite quick.

    Thread info rebuilt.

South Lancashire now OK (though I don't think the phrase matters - suspect a genuine glitch occurred... that most annoying of things - 'The Intermittent Fault')

Will keep fingers crossed - and await further reports of buggeration in the search system.

Ah... the intermittent fault... my personal favourite, excluding the one where it went wrong when I was sent in to fix it...
