I think you deliberately set the problem up just to make us realise how much we would miss you if you went out of business :)

I switched off at midnight last night, trusting that you would solve the matter overnight.

    As you have.

    Well done !

    Best regards

I suspect a lot of work went on behind the scenes in the wee small hours - a big thanks to all involved.

I too was experiencing severe problems yesterday, but as I am suffering from the Dreaded Lurgy I had an early night.

Just logged on with no problems and so many thanks to the team for sorting the problem.

    Regards

    Dee,

Turns out I have a bad case of Bronchitis and so taking a course of antibiotics and some other medicines.

Hopefully be ok in a few days but feel flattened at the moment, hence not so much time on computer!:(

Many thanks for your kind remarks.

    Regards
    Tom

You mean within this 'network Information' forum mate?
All seems fine from here, (though I'll try it in IE, Chrome, & Firefox over my customary Safari, just in case).

Any link in particular? (Name of the thread?) Might be some strangeness in a title, that sometimes affects the way links work.

Its happened a few times and I ignored it, the latest tonight is the one in James S profile posted by Smudger linking to the thread with the U-boat switch thingy.

    Cheers

    Got it.
For some reason Tom's link has a colour applied to it, (possibly inserted while pasting by some browser setting, or while cutting from a page, I don't know).
Has this only happened when you click on Tom's links? Or with others?

2 Links that look the same. One works, one doesn't.

The second is picked up by the site as wrong because there's a colour code there, so it sends you to the forums list.
Tom's link also has a partial URL - which would send you to the forum page as well... Not sure if that's the problem rather than the colour code though.

    Code in the links:
(with a few spaces added to stop the code doing what it would normally do)

    Andy,
If it is of any help, when I PM'd James S, I actually cut and pasted your link for the thread.
I was being lazy at the time:)

Can anyone say if there's a technical problem with starting a new thread? I think there should be a 'New Thread' button somewhere on the main page, but I can't see it.

Aye Tmac, there's never been a 'new thread' button on the overall forum lists, or the Portal.

Like D says, you have to go into a specific forum to start a thread, that way things stay a bit more organised.

Yes, I've found that - I've been looking on the main home page. Is that the wrong place?
