Looks like a splendid weekend to me. Shooting the Biggest Guns Money Can Buy | The Big Sandy Shoot - YouTube Can't imagine the price of those twin-mount MG42s, tripod, optics etc. Lots of WW2 kit present: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uCppmoZiXUY The Big Sandy Shoot And on 'quite advanced' WW2 weapon ownership... I'm a bit late but how many fatalities occurred in this event in say the last 10 years? Any statistics on records of gun crime by participants? I don't have any idea, but I would venture to assume not too many. For a comparison term can anyone provide a timeline of car accident fatalities for the same time frame?
Argh! Don't poke 'em, Za, they might become unstable up on that high horse. This is the place for entertaining pics & videos of exceptional gun ownership - funnily enough by people who have likely killed nobody with their toys - let's not help it go down yet another dreary Non-Americans-sneering-at-Americans-and-their-guns direction. We have other dedicated fun & informative threads for that! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7_M4ejKJV0 Different: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJUuwhx4Xr4
I remember as a kid, going over to France on the school trips to buy Le French bangers and Le flick-knives (I think that was why we were there!!) and seeing for sale in the shops a 6 inch little brass cannon for sale, as a security aid, fully mounted on a wooden set of wheels. Basically, you loaded the cannon with a blank (or otherwise, depending on your choice) 12 bore cartridge and then attached a string through a contraption to the door handle. Anyone opening the door was greeted by a very large bang, with or without a load of No.6 shot, for their troubles, also ensuring that the sleeping occupants were immediately awake, albeit, a bit messy. Looked on Amazon, not available any more, such a nanny state we live in now, but you can just imagine the 'People also brought' bit with a portable defibrillator on show. Imagine the maid bringing in the breakfast if you slept in. BTW, how did the teachers know we had brought flick-knives for wood whittling? They always found them whilst on the ferry before we made Dover and threw them into the sea. As Boris once said at a big London conference, 'Those were the days when the girls could go for a tramp in the woods and the tramp would be sourly afraid.' Regards, Nick KenFentonsWar.com
That Schiffskanone is crazy, it's the only FlaK gun I know of that calibre and below that was single-shot and hand-loaded. Must have been quite a success. Not an improvement on this
