Sadly after all the furore around the horrendous Nazi war Diggers programme two years ago that led to the show being withdrawn by Nat Geo it appears to have been sold to Channel 5 retitled as Battlefield Recovery and will hit UK screens at 9pm on the 9th January.

The Military History and Archaeology world is again up in arms for all the reasons that led to it not being aired before.

Very sad that these people just couldn't let this go , did they think that with a new title we were all too stupid to realise it was the same programme ! From the best of Battlefield Archaeology VBGO to the worst in TV sensationalism of the recovery of the fallen and artifacts !

We just spent another four days in Klessin, uncovering what is left of the manor. The cellars are now empty, it was hard work but really worth it, looks very impressive, I think.
The former owner's daughter visited again with her family; first time after 1945 that she set foot in her former home!
Here's a short article about the dig: http://www.moz.de/artikel-ansicht/dg/0/1/1480984/

There is also an interesting documentation on battlefield archaeology in Germany - the last quarter of it is about our work in Klessin last October. It can still be watched here: http://www.zdf.de/ZDFmediathek/hauptnavigation/sendung-verpasst#/beitrag/video/2732664/3000-Jahre-Schlachtfeld-Deutschland

Some news from this October's dig in Klessin:
Erneut Kriegstote in Klessin gefunden - MOZ.de

There was also the funeral of the lads we had recovered last October; it was good to be there, especially because one of the veterans who had fought in Klessin as a 17 year old was there as well. Seeing the old man carry the coffin of one of his friends who died 70 years ago was very moving.
Here's the article about the burial: Letzte Ehre für gefallene Freunde - MOZ.de

Sorry that the articles are in German only.
More pictures will follow on our website.

You have my full respect for the work you do. I just uploaded the video to my facebook profile. I still wonder if Flying Officer 181944 Peter William Crawshay-Fry is still laying in the lake at Ambarawa since I have never heard about him being recovered.

I'll try to give an update on that one as soon as work there is completed.
Or check our website, which is usually fairly up to date.
