The RAF chap is at least a Group Captain as he's wearing a Staff Officer cap. The badge is the same as my sons side cap purchased in error as he's currently a Wing Commander as you can see in my avatar

Hello All, I attempted speaking with RSG who carried out searches for me but didn't find anything. I am certain now after looking at only 3 entries that come up in a search on Find my past tI believe this is the correct person.I believe this is his army number.one entry actually mentions transferring to the RSG

    https://www.findmypast.co.uk/transcript?id=GBM/ROYALART/348789
Royal Artillery attestations -785508 Drummond Lindsay, Territorial - Enlisted 28/05/1928, underneath his name entry it reads: Royal Signals 0/A 56 78th?

There is then an new Royal Tank Corps
785508 Drummond Lindsay transfers to The Royal Scots Greys 31/07/1931, then shows Discharge date 04 March 1943 Trans to R.C of Signals, Docs to reading (2314), Remarks : Docs to Canterbury 8 8/31
    https://search.findmypast.co.uk/record?id=GBM/TANK/033/200&parentid=GBM/TANK/031426

another entry on Royal Tank Corps
785508 Drummond Lindsay, Transferred from R Tank Corps 31/07/1931
Patriculars of transfer to: 17/03/1937 DO ST o BARNET
    https://search.findmypast.co.uk/record?id=GBM/TANK/081/096&parentid=GBM/TANK/075325

Just for further info, The RAF photo I have no idea about but it says on the back of the Photo " Drummond 1943."

Thanks for any help with this new info.

    Late to this thread, but:

It was usual for some UK registrars to put both military role & civilian occupation on a certificate. I have the cert of an RASC Pte who died in army service in a road accident in London in 1940, but it also gave his civillian occupation.

On photo five is there alongside his Africa star ribbon (with rosette for a bar) a small metal badge, maybe a MID or less likely a Kings Commendation which he could not wear on a ribbon until he was issued with the War Medal 1939-1945.

So did you apply for his Service Records?
You've shown the Marriage Certificate in 1939 when 27 so appears to tie in with the details Tricky Dicky provided for birth in 1912 and also Date of Death. Can you confirm that those details are him?
Without you obtaining his Service details, we're just guessing and could mislead you by honest mistake.

Good Evening, its been a while since I originally posted. I have not applied for his records but I recently found this confirming this is my Great Uncle, so the previous records found above confirm this was his army numbers, I have him living at this address with his wife for a few years.

Royal Artillery attestation on Find my past, it shows Drummond Lindsay enlisting 28/05/1928 (T) Territorial R.Sigs 0/A 56 Service number 785508 and Transfer to Army reserve 17/03/1931 Para 207 T.A.R R: Tank Corps.

4 Mar 1943 Transferred to The Royal Corps of Signals Docs to Reading (2134) Remarks -Docs to Canterbury 8 8/31

in 1943 North Somerset Yeomanry was converted to the Royal Corps of Signals unit. As Air Formation Signals it served in the Western Desert, Sicily, Italy, and North West Europe.
