Thank goodness you really did disappoint us last night. I do hope you crossed into Russia blew a raspberry and ran back again
44c in my wagon today. Its still at 28c. I do wish the BBC, newspapers and other radio stations would shut-up and stop treating us all like idiots. Your rear must be wiped by us because we know best. Really? D...heads. I've been parked-up a hour and half. I must ring then tommorow for some advise. Regards, Stu
I'm sure my boss will give me permission tommorow to park-up all day and do nothing. No work, equals no pay. Boss you must put air conditioning in my wagon before I turn a wheel. Stuart, get another job. We don't drive abroad. Regards, Stu.
Turned the BBC news off this morning. I agree with Stu about the news channel harping on all day with their advice, treating us all like we are stupid. The problem with the media is they latch on to a subject and won't let go of it. If people want to sit on the beach and fry all day, let them take responsibility for their actions; we don't need the Beeb to tell us what to do. (I thought there was a war in Ukraine, not been mentioned at all ). Rant over. It's much hotter in Lincolnshire today than yesterday.
Yes. Getting warm here on my hilltop. 34 degrees now and forecast to reach 37 this afternoon. Nice and cool indoors since I use common sense and do the following: close curtains on the sunny side of the house. have fans in the two room I use most. open the attic skylight so a draught blows right up the house. dont watch the news. If all else fails I will retreat to the bath filled with cool water and read a book. Mike
40 C predicted today for Arnhem; some weatherbroadcasts say 'only' 38 C. Tomorrow will be more comfortable at 29 C (with a thunderstorm in the evening - at least we get some rain).
Just now in the conservatory. I’m slathering chip fat all over meself ready to go and sit in there as we speak.
Its providing us with a great deal of entertainment to hear the UK's reaction to this heatwave - it seems to us like a huge overreaction. I was also interested to see a 5ha bushfire near Birmingham, even though its a small fire, I would imagine that UK crews have virtually no training or experience in such things.
The FB deal with moorland fires/grass fires on a regular basis in the UK with regards to over reaction we do it come rain ,shine, snow or anything that can make a story or a moan
London Fire brigade have declared a major incident due to significant fires in the London area one near me
Mrs and Miss Fortnum are in the UK at the moment, visiting the in-laws, and their judgment is it's just 'hot' and the doom and gloom from the media looks faintly ridiculous next to the cheerful novelty they've seen expressed by most people (provided their work has not been affected by it). Weather is almost proverbially a factor you just 'deal with'. They've gone to the coast for a few days and say it's lovely. Precautions: suncream, hats, water, and brain. No doubt climate change is 'a thing', but as 'extreme weather' goes, the British have it easy compared with a lot of the world.
Me under a tree trying in vain to stay dryish in a rainstorm today at Lapinsalmi, Repovesi National park . Not in the boiling UK.
We did sneak past 40 degrees C locally today. It does feel considerably hotter this afternoon compared to earlier in the week, even though I feel more acclimatised to the heat now.
