For some reason I was expecting a picture of a Star Wars Stormtrooper Lee... Dunno why, just was . And Ferahgo, I've been meaning to go to Shuttleworth for years, everyone says it's rather good.
Seeing the tanks at the Imperial War Museum reminded me of the following. In May 1995, one of my local papers asked their readers to send in stories relating to 'Where were you on VE Day?' I sent in my small story and as a result of this being published I was contacted by London News Network who were doing a run up to the VE Day Commemoration programs. I, with a few other veterans, was invited down to the Imperial War Museum, stood in front of a Sherman Tank and interviewed on what it felt like to be listening to the crowds in Trafalgar Square whilst I was still so far from home. I still have a video of the program that was shown during the ITV news and a photo that I took of myself as it was shown on the screen. Apologies for a lousy photo
For some reason I was expecting a picture of a Star Wars Stormtrooper Lee... Dunno why, just was . It must have been my previous avatar influencing you, either that or it was the Force.
And Ferahgo, I've been meaning to go to Shuttleworth for years, everyone says it's rather good. It is well worth a visit, especially on the airshow days, the collection is quite wide and goes from 'those magnificent men' to ww2 stuff, with motorbikes, cars and trucks thrown in as well. (And the giftshop is perfect for the modeller, special edition 1/35 Revell Westland Lysander with markings for the one in the collection. Only available in their giftshop for roughly a tenner-about half the price of a normal one!)
Great to be able to now place a face to the names. Great photos posted. This is a photo of Smudger Jnr before moving to Germany Tom
The words "Every time I try" related to my trying to load a photo. I never expected it to work. sapper
The words "Every time I try" related to my trying to load a photo. I never expected it to work. sapper Well done Brian, it did work that time. Me in one of the original costumes from "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" Funny you should mention that, I was showing the children the animated Lego version today.
I will suspect she is used to it after 30+ bearded years with me. Will ask that a little something is under the tree for you, Peter.
are the pictures of me (in 1st photo in the left)and the friends of phillboxes tours.............and our dog "otto"
Some silly ones. The two guys with fat Commanders - Myself on the right and on the left my Belgian friend Dr Peter De laet , likewise afflicted by a syndrome I defined as "OOPS." A few years earlier when I had hair - myself with perhaps one of the most remarkable men I have met - Mr Eddy Edwards a veteran flying boat Squadron leader. The guy in dirty clothes with the Pike - me again - this lady was a slight over the "twenty" - the third time I had caught her in three years . Sadly the lake from which she came has been destroyed by ignorant anglers and she is now almost certainly dead - killed for the table . What an utter waste.
Being behind the lens most of the time, I thankfully don't have many recent photos of myself. This was me back in the summer... and before Owen makes a joke, yes that's me on the left. No idea who the other person is...
