    Just noticed while looking for something else that Gerry's 3+ years gone.

    As was mentioned already, it's a real shame he couldn't reach his 100th birthday. I'll be thinking of him the end of this coming July.

    I can only imagine what a godsend this site must have been to old veterans like to Ron, Gerry & Tom.
    In the early years after the war there would have been plenty of them in their home towns to chat and reminisce with in places like the British Legion. But as the years went by and more and more veterans started to fall this pastime would have become harder to achieve.
    So with the rise of the internet and the creation of forums like WW2Talk it would have given them a new lease of life in their later years being able to connect to veterans farther afield and with the many WW2 enthusiast's like you lot on this site, it must have given them a lot of pleasure.
    I am relatively new to the forum and did not get to know the above mentioned vets, I can only regret I did not find it earlier.
