On 50th divisions page , it doesn't list the unit . Also it seems to have gone away from europe in December. Any reason for that ?
The 2nd Bn Cheshire Regiment were the divisional MG battalion, 50th (Northumbrian) Division, from 1 February 1941 to early December 1944. Along with other formations within 50 Div that had seen long service overseas, the 2nd Bn Cheshire Regiment, was at that time returned home as a Training Cadre. Those troops that didn’t qualify for service at home would have been transferred to other units already serving in the NW Europe theatre.
Might want to change thread title: "Cheshire". Don't know if it makes any difference in finding this thread, but still...
