On a similar note, last year a team of archivists and explorers visited the jungle landing strip in Northern Burma used by the Chindits in 1944. The Broadway strip as it was code-named is located in Kachin controlled territory and was difficult to access, both physically and politically. After a few days search the team struck lucky, unearthing the crumpled wrecks of crashed WACO gliders, as well as carcasses of Japanese artillery and other weaponry.
