Just read that early in the war in a deal between Anthony Eden and US Ambassador Winant that 17 American Volunteers were commissioned into the British Army most joining Eden's old Regiment the KRRC.
They all spent part of their training with 1st Motor Training Battalion KRRC at Chiseldon.
Anyone have a list of those 17 officers?
    How many survived ?
Any more info would be welcome, thanks.
Thought it apt they join the KRRC in their early history were the 60th Royal Americans.

Hmm - Mosseri is not shown in CWGC or ABMC. Maybe he is not commemorated?

If Mosseri killed with maquis he won't be on CWGC and he not on ABMC.
Cross posted agian, great minds thinking alike.
Maybe buried in hometown so not under care of ABMC.

This could be a very interesting one! Found this in London Gazette:

    his commn., 2gth Aug. 1944.

    This is his probate details:

Picked up three volumes of KRRC Chronicle at W&P Show today. They have a lot about the American officers; I will post more when I am back at my main PC again.

Speaking of American Officers in British Army, in History of Fourth Indian Division is a photo "Group of Sappers and Miners Officers Killed at Battle of Wadi Akarit".
Second from left is Lieut Allan US Army.

    Anyone know more about him?
Haven't got to that part of book yet so don't know if he mentioned in text.
