Family building threads seem to be thriving, I have to start my can on micro-armour painting :D

Nice jetty, pretty weathered look! Now you need a swimming shark fin to scare the bejeezus out of that crew

Deacs Well i am from Cumbria.

Owen looks like your enjoying this as much as i did when i helped Natalie with her trench.
I don't no about you but when your doing something like this with your kids the buzz you get out of it is unbelievable you can't wait to do the next bit.
The huts and that pier are excellent and your painting of the pirates are brilliant well done Owen and the lads.

Had a quick game with eldest son this evening .
His band of pirates had to attack from the jungle storm the storehouse & get the 'prize' from there to the boat.
    I defended the jetty.
Thought I'd post a few pics of the scenery being used to maybe give inspiration to anyone else who wnats to make a few models & unashamedly play with model soldiers/pirates.
    ;)

PS Dont ask who won as due to ''circumstances out of our control'' we were unable to finish the game.

Like your style:functional for gaming purposes and none of that 'Model Railway Layout' look, though I take my hat off to anyone who can acheive that, too!

What model railway layout look? That only works for public events, when at home normally it goes minimalist style :D

I've got lots more plastic aquarium plants to base up yet.
I bought more on Saturday from 'Products for Wargamers'.

We've got to make some more buildings , I need some proper boats & might even make a ship oneday.

Here's what I painted this morning , Governor from Parkfield Minitures.

I'm quite happy in my own little world & it keeps me off the forum .

This was a sumptuously terrained 1690's game at the Derby show recently. I said it looks a bit like Crossfire they said 80% of the terrain was just for show!

Owen, thanks for the links :)

Les, I see that in that picture of yours terrain elements are mobile, you can arrange them at will so you can use them both in private or in public. Thinks do get posher when you are preparing for a major event and want to show up in your best clothes, the Model Layout Paradigm may certainly apply.

My pic above was actually quite dingy, I had made a house move and had got rid of all my terrain stuff. Now I have bought a number of terrain modules for micro-armour from another wargamer who was doing a house move himself :)

These were made some 20 years ago, will need minimal maintenace, but are a pain to store as you can't simply stack them. Anyway, it's a matter of making choices, I may be making loose terrain pieces all the same. A pretty terrain is much better than that shown on that pic of mine a couple of posts above, it's only a matter of will. Triumph des Willens if you like

Had another game today, I (as umpire) controlled all the people in the harbour & the chap with pack mules going there from the left of photo.
The boys each had a gang attacking from either end of the table.
They had to fight eachother & then get the supplies from the harbour.
The oldest sat back , let the youngest attack the harbour, my men there were so roughly handled they ran away after taking casulties.
Both sets of pirate gangs entered the harbour , I expected a fight between them but they choose to do a deal & shared the booty.

Sorry for the threadjacking, but I find what's below lovely, and besides I'll do whatever I can do to annoy Les :D
