25mm Pirates (yes I know it's not WW2)

I've been painting up some 25mm pirates from Dixon Minitures & Redoubt Enterprises to have some fun playing wargames with my two boys.
Had a small battle this morning .
Scenery is still work in progress , it's a green sheet laid over some more folded sheets with lichen & plastic aquarium plants .
The boys designed & built their own huts out of card.
The ruined temple is for an aquarium.
The rules are very simple ones I found on the internet.
The game took about 2 hours , youngest son got bored near the end & wandered off to play on the Wii.
Earlier in the game oldest son got upset that I was unfairly helping the youngest, as I was meant to be neutral umpire.

The scenario was 2 gangs of pirates had heard about some buried treasure in an old ruined temple.
They's set up base in huts in the jungle & had to rush to the temple & find the treasure before the other gang.
Once in the temple it was a D6 throw in game turns to find it.

Dining table set up for game.

Redcoats's blunderbus armed pirates in action.

Bluecoat's gang attack whilst Redcoats dig for treasure.

Bluecoat's gang got upperhand Redcoats killed & wounded some and chased others away. They let the two men left in the temple carry on digging with option of doing that & joining the Bluecoats or die.

    :)

I hadn't painted any figures for about 20 years until I did these pirates, here's the ones I'm most pleased with.

Figures look great and the huts are very smart too. It looks like something from a Terry Pratchett book ;) Have you got a link to the game? Might try something like this out on my kids, although the arguing....

I like the brass buttons on the sage coloured frock coat! Very suave and debonair!
Will you be putting a demo on at Salute next year?

Couldn't you squeeze a milliput sten gun onto one figure at least.
    Nobody'll notice...

It's been great fun getting this far , still lots of scenery to make yet.
Glad I've got back into the groove with painting figures.
It's taken awhile to get back into it.
The boys have learnt some modelling skills along the way.
They've also learnt a fair bit of history on Piracey in the Golden Age.
They've also learnt about matchlock & flintlock muskets & pistols from watching lots of videos on YouTube.

I know I'll feel stupid once you've told me but what is 1D20 etc? The last time I played WGs it was move and throw a 5 or 6 to kill/wound. It was very simple though. I doubt I was 10.

    20 sided die.

I was right about the die but never thought about a 20 sided one!

    Had to laugh yesterday.
I mentioned to my youngest we needed some good rocks for the game so at playtime he organised his classmates to go out collecting 'treasure', they came back with lots of stones which he filled his bag & coat pockets up with to bring home.

Here's a blunderbus armed pirate hiding amongst some of them.
Bit annoyed my camera not too good , I'm pleased with how his face was painted but doesn't look so good in this picture.
I'm not a fan of ''fried egg eyes'' as seen on some wargames figures.
hoped to show how I'd done these but as you can see doesnt show well in photo.

Finished my jetty made from ice-lolly sticks.
storehouse in background was designed, built & painted by my 10 year old son (with bare minimum of help)
