Hi All, I recently received the attached photo from a family. Nothing particularly unusual really, apart from the uniform of the man on the right as we look. Firstly, can anyone tell me the significance of the white uniform? I've heard families talking about their man receiving his 'whites' whilst serving in India, but have never followed this up, until now. Secondly, can anyone help in identifying the significance of the sash-like garment he has over his shoulders? All assistance gratefully received and appreciated. Steve
To me it looks like he has dressed up for The Twelfth. L.O.L. 658, if that's the number on the right of the sash, is Greencastle Loyal Orange Lodge. https://www.flickr.com/photos/mc1gers/7564219008
Hi Diane, Thanks for that. There were a fair few men from the Royal Ulster Rifles on Operation Longcloth, so this is very feasible. Cheers Steve
