    I am trying to make sense of a vague memory I have of being told about three "unknown" British soldiers, all killed on the same day in May/June 1940, and buried at or near Blaringhem in northern France - but I cannot find them there.

    Can anyone help?

    At times like this I wish I had the printed CWGC register for Pas de Calais etc.

    Hi Andy - I moved your post to its own thread.

    When you say unknown do you mean unknown to you or unknown to CWGC ie their graves are marked as unknown soldiers?

    Thank you both.

    Yes, had ruled out Blaringhem although without a Pas-de-Calais register I cannot easily check through local cemeteries for "unknowns" buried there.

    Or does anyone know an easy way to do this via CWGC website?

    Marquise Communal Cemetery has 60 unknowns.
    CWGC :: Cemetery Details

    There are now over 150, 1939-45 war casualties commemorated in this site. Of these, 60 are unidentified.

    Here's a pic of part of a whole row.

    Can I ask why you want to know of these 3 unknowns in a place you're not sure of where it is ?
    Needle in a haystack type search.

    Hmm, I think I might have interpreted the data wrong. These unknowns in my posting are those of who even the national identity is unknown. Out of the 167 graves my file says 162 are from the UK, 3 Can. etc.

    In short, disregard my previous post! :mellow:

    Thank you!

    I need to go back to my French informant for more details. The three were supposed to be tank crew members, but unidentified.
