I suspect there maybe more entries on this man later in the file.

Has the making of a spy story, surely they would have either removed him from the
company clerks office or fed him with duff gen then watched to see what he did.

keep us posted as and when further info appears.

There were many such suspects who were usually reported by Liberated or repatriated P.O.W..
Those who come immediately to mind.

W.O Hughes R.D. R.A.F. who was tried and found guilty of Collaboration.
Sgm (Lt)Pollock was reported as collaborating with the Germans in various P.O.W. Camps. He was trying to find the names of anyone who helped Evaders before they were finally caught.
A regular visitor to Camps where he was incarcerated was the "Captain", one of the alias used by De Zitter, a Belgian Traitor who infiltrated Escape Lines.
I have found reference to Pollock in an interrogation report from Col Scotlands Files but he seems to have disappeared in 1945.

Then there was Theodore Schurch who was hung for the Wartime offence of Treachery.

Then you could look at the BFC.
There were also many unfounded allegations.

I've finished reading the Intel file and sadly no further mentions of this man (I am casually curious as to what the conclusion was). That said there are numerous people under suspicion and investigation within the Corps area listed within the file so I may have missed him.

I'm quite surprised the file has been released (I think the original year for release was 2040) if I'm honest as names, address's, DoB's etc are given and I would think some of them may still be alive - and may not even have known the were being 'watched'.

...Hardly a problem until some bozo slapped it all over the internet !:)

You're quite right of course and this also applies to Service Records. These events are still very much within living memory or that of possible children. We are always hungry for information but these were real people, not just figures from history.

I think that in 1940, a German name, whether changed or otherwise was enough for suspicion and the description of his behaviour just suggests that he was interested in his work.

Heaven forbid, an OR who can read and write ! They'll be expecting to make decisions next !

  6. Hi

In my list of those who did not do their duty I have a list of over 1,000 names. Many are well known, etc Amery, Cooper etc, some have been released quietly. It seems to me every time I check another name has been added. I have also included all the names given to me by POWs and, according to the MOD, are in the public domain but very well hidden. Not all were prosecuted because of lack of evidence. (Gordon Perry comes into this category.) I have also included those from the Empire who owed allegiance to the King, although I would have needed another computer if I had put in all the Indian names, although I have included those hanged for sabotage.

If anyone comes across any names to fit into my research when the are in the NA please copy the statement from the Security/Investigating officer and the culprit's statement - if nothing else. I will reimburse any expenses.

    Thank you

    Jacky

Very interesting story, I was not aware of collaborationists among the Allied POWs. Thanks again alieneyes for sharing this topic with me today here.
