Hello everyone, I have been looking for information of any sort, regarding the above Serviceman who is listed on the WW2 Hawarden & Sandycroft War Memorials. He is lsted on the Hawarden Memorial as Stanley, but only by his initial on the Sandycroft memorial. I have looked in the 1921 census and the 1939 National Register, but cannot find him, also looked on Find my Past and hit a brick wall. There are two Stanley V. ROBINSONS on the 1939 National Register in diferent parts of the UK, both born 1925 and both Apprentice Motoar Mechanics, but different, parents, at first I thought he had been recorded twice, but no. Have you tried working backwards from the CWGC data Mavis? They have eight potential candidates: Search Results | CWGC= Only one might fit with your 1925 year of birth but they were interred in New Shildon (All Saints) Churchyard, near where their parents lived, which is some distance from Deeside.
I did go through the CWGC website results, but none had parents anywhere near Flintshire/Chester area, although I know the parents could have moved anywhere. I did put some of the numbers in FMP, that how I came up with Stanley V. That's where I got the 1925 date from. I really have no date of birth. It is all guess work. I have been looking for about 4 years. I will have to go through the rest. Thanka anyway for your suggestion, I appreciate your time reading and replying. Mavis
There is this young chap who died in 1945. Name: Stanley Robinson Death Age: 20 Birth Date: abt 1925 Registration Date: Oct 1945 [Nov 1945] [Dec 1945] Registration Quarter: Oct-Nov-Dec Registration District: Hawarden Inferred County: Flintshire Sorry if this is no help but its maybe something to look into. I know it seems like a civilian death but could be a long shot.

AS I say I may be barking up the wrong tree and sending you way off the mark with which I apologise.
I think Deacs may be on to something there. If I were you Mavis, I would order the death certificate from the General Register Office, it will cost £7 but may help solve your mystery.

The burial records for Hawarden 1959-1969 are online & these are possible matches for two of those buried in the grave there. John Thomas ROBINSON, buried 24.2.1969, aged 81, 14 Chevrons Road Shotton. Service Sandycroft, interment cemetery. Elizabeth Ann ROBINSON, buried 27.1.1966, aged 79, of 29 North Street, Sandycroft. Service at St Francis, interment in cemetery. I had no luck matching these people with a marriage in hawarden reg dist, or 1939 register. Travers
Thank you travers1940, I had found John Thomas, but not Elizabeth Ann, so thanks for that. Although I wrote to the website that Deacs gave me and they sent me a copy of the photo almost by return, I am very grateful, but the family had requested that it didn't go on the internet. Stanley was in the Royal Navy, and must have died in the Registration district of Hawarden. Unfotunately there are no dates of birth or death, but anyway really good to have, other names were on it too, but am cautious about relating them here. I couldn't find them on the 1939 National Register or the 1921 census. I am grateful for any help, he must be remembered. Regard, Mavis
The only Stanley Robinson in the RN listed as dying during WW2 is: Stanley Robinson P/MX 52394 ERA (Engine Room Artificer) 2nd Class, HMS Arrow, died 4 Aug 43 aged 29, Missing presumed killed in explosion. HMS Arrow caught fire in Algiers following an explosion in the merchant ship SS Fort Le Montee. Arrow sustained major damage with many casualties. There is another Stanley Robinson who died in 1947 but he was a Royal Marine. However I can see no connection with either men to Hawarden. Tim
Just my thought was that he maybe enlisted into the Royal Navy but sadly was maybe ill before he went off for training, and sadly died of his illness so probably doesn't meet CWGC criteria ? But thats just my guess ?
Re my #10. I also checked against ADM 104 - Register of Deaths of Naval Ratings as well as CWGC. These were the only two Stanley Robinsons listed. Tim
Thanks so much, and thanks to deacs, there was a breakthrough, the owner of the Hawarden Cemetery site offered a service to request a photo, so I asked if it was possible to have a photo and sure enough, a photo was sent to me, but the family requested that it should not be on the internet, so I must respect that. With help from Traver1940, off the main forum, because of their request, I have since found them on the 1921 census, and the 1939 National Register, they were all born in Liverpool, therefore hard to find in Wales. I believe that the family came to Hawarden and Sandycroft, as Stanley is mentioned on their War Memorial, because of John Summers & Sons, Hawarden Bridge Steelworks. This attracted men from all over the country, but they must have only been in the area a few years, as they were in Liverpool in 1939. I now believe that Stanley was formerly an Able Seaman and he died of TB, but I don't know the date.
