Hi my name is Rebecca Neri and I am pretty new to this site. My paternal grandfather served in the British military during World War II but never really spoke much of what he did. His name is Philip (Filippio) Alessandro Neri. He was born in St Pancras, London in 1918. I know he served in Africa because he told me a story about chasing Rommel and using the Sphinx's nose as target practice. I am also pretty sure he was a Royal Engineer. I know what I have doesn't help much but he passed away almost 10 years ago and no one really knows what he did. He eventually emigrated to Canada to where my family lives now.

What I am looking for is any help whatsoever; website, directories, names of the company he served with, etc.

    Thank you for any help.

Hi Rebecca and welcome to the forum.

If you want to do some serious research into your grandfathers service the first place to start would be by applying for a copy of his service records from the MoD. These will contain the exact units he served with and once you know that you can get copies of his units war diaries which wil tell you what they were doing on a day to day basis throughout the war.
