    Hi,

    Here are the pages from the CG OH covering the actions of 5th CG during the period 5th to 9th September 1944.

    You may find some personal details about him - DOB, enlistment date etc - from the CG Attestation register documents available on Findmypast site.

    You will see another “Derbyshire Man” - the heir to the Duke of Devonshire, Major the Marquis of Hartington - was also killed in this action.

    EDIT TO ADD

    The advance in which Gdsn Skidmore was killed was not part of Operation Market Garden as that commenced 17th September 1944.
