In a report for Overdale Camp 60 there was a single entry about a Huddersfield Camp:

19/22 December 1946 – English Inspector’s Report. Overdale had; “taken over a satellite camp at Huddersfield including the latter camp’s four hostels at Stirley Hill, Lindley Hill, Cliffe Hill and Shelf Hall.”

The entry is ambiguous – did it mean it had 'taken over a satellite camp' – or had it taken over a main camp which then became a satellite to Overdale? No camp number was given for Huddersfield. It held 330 German pows at that time. Does anyone know what its status was - main camp or satellite (to which main camp)?

I cannot (YET) find any further entries until April 1948 when 'Huddersfield' was listed as a hostel with Sandbeds Camp 53.

Trying to track its location / status down, I think the likely location is Fieldhouse Lane off Leeds Road - this comes from local memories and a news article about pows from 'Leeds Road Camp' helping out after floods.

A 1956 OS map shows the road, but no site is shown - however I think the bottom corner of the camp is teasingly peeping in to a 1948 aerial pic.
