Having now matched up the 63 names of casualties who served with the RAF on the local cenotaph, with the CWGC details, there are 21 (now only 7 thanks to Peter and Geoff (Spidge)), that I have not been able to find any details relating to their deaths, so open to the forum to see if anyone can help.

DONALD MACHIN, Sergeant, 1080606, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, Died 23 July 1942

    Killed On Active Service

'Killed on active service' means that the individual died as a result of an accident or something similar whilst engaged on operational duties. Thus, if a person was killed on a training sortie, or a flight not engaged in operations against the enemy that would be classed as KOAS.
