Dear All I was looking for Royal Artillery badges and came across this advert

"WW2 Durham Light Infantry 116th Light Anti Aircraft Regiment painted Steel Helmet.
A scare example of the Tommy pattern helmet. The shell with a green painted finish. To one side is applied a DLI Cap Badge, the other side a painted formation sign of the 116th LAA Regiment Royal Artillery. Complete with lining, and elasticated chinstrap. GC (£120 - £150)"

apologies for my lack of knowledge but would this have been the case with regard to the markings.Any ideas on the shape and style of the 116th L.A.A. formation sign.

    thank you

    Hi,
I`m no Royal Artillery expert but were`nt the 116th LAA Regiment Royal Artillery associated with the RWF.
The old 7th DLI were transferred/reformed as 47th (DLI) AA Battalion..renamed again as 47th Searchlight Regiment in 1942 it was coverted to Light Anti Aircraft and assumed the title 112th LAA Regiment RA.
The old 5th DLI were split into two forming the 55th Searchlight Regiment and the 55th Searchlight Regiment(Later 113th LAA Regiment RA).
I know this will not help you source out the formation sign..but would it actually be a valid item if it fails to have a DLI conection..why the badge?

    Best Wishes
