Going through the archives of my local newspaper I came across David Barnby, described in mid-1942 as 'serving with a commando unit in the Middle East'. I know it's not much to go on but is it possible that this refers to the SAS & if so does anyone have any further info on him?

You may well be right, especially as having re-read my notes the paper stated he was 'a lieutenant serving with a commando unit in the middle east' so the dates would seem to add up. In which case can anyone give me any information on any particular operations he may have taken part in, or am I being unrealistic?
