Hi I am researching my late fathers (Christopher Henry Hatt) service . In his service record says he was CTBA 15 ITC Posted 9th Training Battalion RASC. Anyone have information regarding 9th Training Battalion RASC? Also in Section A shows 13/42 am I correct in thinking this is week/year?
Also my mother told me that he had originally volunteered for a guards regiment but that because my sister was due to be born he awaited his call up. Could the 15 Infantry training Regiment meant that he went and then CTBA to the RASC? However the original entry 45/41 has RASC as Unit? Also anyone have info on 44 Division PET COY RASC? Can anyone also shed light on the text seems to say somthing like "Posted to the W.E less att of this boy?
Hi, Welcome to the forum. It’s always better for other members to see full service record pages - rather than excerpts -as it helps to inform context and thus helps us to interpret them better for you. In answer to a query in your first post - The 13/42 isn’t a date reference. It’s a reference to the entry in his unit Part II Order - number 13 published in 1942. Can’t assist re your second post as I don't really understand what you are asking except to say that if he’d joined the “Guards” he would not have gone to an Infantry Training Centre (ITC). He would’ve gone to the Guards Depot at Pirbright. Steve
Hi all new to this forum but must say a fabulous resource. Please see attached my father Service record RASC.Any information would be much appreciated
Hi, Have you used the forum search engine for “44 Div(ivision) Petrol Company RASC” or probably a wider return will follow if you search for “Petrol Company RASC”. The war diary will be available at U.K. National Archives when it reopens. Steve
Hi, Thanks for the uploading the complete service record. The queried text appears to read “Posted to WE (War Establishment) less att (attached (Personnel?) of this Coy (Company)”. It’s rather an imprecise form of words. He seems to have gone overseas with 44 Division and following the disbandment of that Division in January 1943 he seems to have been posted to several RASC units. The War Diary of each unit will be available at U.K. National Archives but you may wish to use the forum search engine to see if they have been mentioned previously. Steve EDIT TO ADD OP has also posted the service record here - Service Record Christopher Hatt
Hi, It’s not always a good idea to post items twice on the forum. It leads to confusion and wasted effort by members answering different topics. MOD will likely merge this one with your other topic. Christopher Henry HATT, RASC - 9th Training Battalion; Service Records help Steve
Thanks Steve for help its obvious now you have told me. Thought it was strange language to use as it looked like boy!
Question on my Fathers Territorial Army Record of Service Paper under section 6. "Do you now belong to, or have you ever served in, the Royal Navy, the Army, the Roya Air Force, the Royal Marines. the Supplementary Reserve. the: Territorial Force or Army the Army Reserve, the Air Force Reserve, the Auxiliary Air Force, any Naval Reserve Force, or to any Dominion or Colonial Force? If so state particular: of ALL engagements" He has put "No" And under section 8 Have you truly stated previous service he has put "Yes" Cant imagine why he would do this and also the person counter signing as witness knows him. Anyone have any ideas?
Yeah understand that but weird why he would write no at all in 6. Especially when it list it all in his Military History Sheet! Strange just wondered if anyone had come across this before and if there was some know reason behind doing this?
Don’t understand the point you are trying to make in this post. Have a look at other service files posted in the forum. You’ll likely see the same responses to the questions asked for the reason quoted by Blutto. Steve
