5621426 Cecil Arthur St John-Clifford, 7th Devons: 02/07/1940

    I cam across this chap who is the uncle of my aunt (not a direct relation but interesting anyway).
    He is buried in a CWGC plot in Ardara, County Donegal, the only grave.
    What I know so far is pretty much what is detailed below:

    Cant seem to find any reason why Devons would be on a ship off the Irish coast at the time, nor can I find any ship that sunk around that time. The fact that 7 Servicemen died on the same day would suggest that the ship was either badly damaged or sunk, any help welcomed.
