In previous post on the site, I’ve been striving to find each CO of each USCG Rescue Cutter involved in Rescue Flotilla One
USCG Rescue Flotilla One was used to “rescue” men from various ships, landing craft etc that were sunk or heavy damaged during the Normandy Landings. They rescued hundreds of Allied servicemen during the Landings and subsequent days after.
Over the years I’ve had the help of many, including the Chief Historian of the United States Coast Guard, who was a tremendous help, but because of “lack of funds” couldn’t sustain an in-depth search of my request, but did help me as much as they could.
The only other options is to physically visit their site and research the files myself, or hire a private researcher.
I have also received (and posted on this site) the ENTIRE LIST of Officers of the USCG who were assigned to Rescue Flotilla One, which again was a wonderful resource…..So, I know who they all were, but not necessarily which Cutter they Commanded or served on. This list was supplied by a family member of one of the Former USCG Officers of ResFlotOne……which they found in his “things in the attic” after he passed away.
I thought it time to post as a Resource what I have to date.
If any member as more information or clues, please let me know so I can continue to update this information
Thank you
