Slightly odd subject here, Ww1 victory march through Ypres with cats and a boy mimicking the tOMMIES Thanks for looking Soren
Neat. I enjoy seeing your work Soren. Would you be interested in shooting a some names on the Menin Gate for me? cheers, phil
Do they still throw real cats from the Cloth Hall tower? I hope they do, I bloody hate the things. Just in case anyone doesn't know what I mean. Ieper - Cats Parade During the middle ages the Grote Markt in Ypres became overcrowded on Cat Wednesday (the last day of the annual fair). The city jester would throw live cats to their death from the belfry tower. With a few short or long interruptions Ypres has observed this cat throwing custom for centuries. The last time live cats were thrown was in 1817.
Owen; I despise cats too. I suspect I got it from my Granddad? He was in the RAF ..... I suspect the brilliant Skip Morrow based this one on him!
Soren, I like your choice of colours, it really adds an extra dimension to your drawings. Steve, I cracked up when I saw the cartoon you posted! Regards Tom

Cats are actually quite nice. They taste just like chicken. I believe that many people sampled this delight during the war thinking that they were enjoying chicken! The source was from my mother many years ago when she casually mentioned it in passing. Regards Tom
Cats are actually quite nice. They taste just like chicken. Probably tried cat/chicken in a local chinese restaurant in recent years.
Guys, if my sisters heard me talking like this, I'd be an adult soprano when I grew up. They like cats. And I keep telling them, so do I. They taste .... And that, Officer, is when the fight began!
Nobody's asked Soren. So I'm afraid I have to. I naturally hesitate to question the artistic impulse... but why the cats? And as this has turned into the unending cat/dog debate - I should like to state my entirely personal preference that throwing most dogs under buses would be considered by me 'a good thing' . Well trained dogs I'm fine with... I just find them very few and far between. Thinking about some hounds that I've quite liked... maybe it's just the owners that let them crap everywhere I have the real problem with?

Well we have 30,000 people (so I've been told, although I don't really believe it ) coming to the cat parade, I thought that I could combine my interest in the war with the parade and help to pay the rent this month, I was thinking of doing a 'Tommy Catkins' but fortunately my pride prevented this! I always pick up after the pooch, I must say that I seem to be the only one in Ieper doing it! although there is a 70 euro fgine
Well we have 30,000 people (so I've been told, although I don't really believe it ) Very possible. There have been 50,000+ visiting the Kemmel antiques fairs in the past, so why not?

Sir, I had thought your post interesting but not explanatory, this is an artist who carries a torch for Anne Widdicombe... surely I thought, his muse is a more complex thing? Thread you say? What thread? :p:p ~A
