You're right , it does make it seem that much closer in history.
I've driven on those very roads too!

There's quite a bit available in relation to color footage of pre-war Germany. Its interesting to see images of pre-war Berlin and then looking at post-war to get some sort of effect of the Bombing and Russian attacks.

What a good find; it's many years since I set foot in Berlin. I really need to get back there.

A very good find , Hitler said something about giving him 10 years and you would not recognise Germany - - nine years on and who would recognise the Berlin of 1945 ?

The bronzes seen at approx. one minute - the French took them to Paris in 1945 and returned them a few years ago, they are now back in place.
It somehow seems odd that the Germans should have double decker buses....they are an icon of England / London !

Ah the Cream Buses, the very ones that were used to bus thousands of Volksturm out of the City on Goebbels orders towards the Oder and the Russians. Where they died in their thousands.

At about 6:24 in the film, it shows a building site in front of the Reichstag. i wonder if that was the site for the New Reich chancellery?

Amazing to see how Goering's Air Ministry hasnt changed one bit - given the size of it you'd think that it would have incurred more damage than actually did happen to it.

good call on the Bus pics Owen. Seemingly they are very famous in Germany, those cream buses.
