Good evening chaps, I'm beginning my research into my Grandfathers fight in Normandy and need some help as all my books are at home (400 miles away) and Google is proving useless. He was part of 2nd Bn Royal Warwicks and landed at Sword as part of Op NEPTUNE. I know they landed in the region of Lion-sur-Mer, so I have presumed that it was Queen Beach but I'm unsure of what sector. The war diaries make no mention and neither does the Regimental History book. From what I can make out I'm assuming it to be Queen Beach, Green sector but any more info would be great. Thanks in advance. Jon
Warwicks on Queen beach have a lot of coverage on this thread. http://www.ww2talk.com/forum/battle-specifics/27497-queen-beach-nwe-d-day.html
My uncle William John Millard also landed with the Warwicks on 6 June part of B company. Here is a photo i have, the large officer at the front i Major P.W .H Hicks who latter left to join the airborne invasion of Arnhem. Jack is back row extreme left, he was killed at Emieville on July20 1944.
Hello Jon, It would help if you gave your grandfather's particulars, his name to start with And also any other relevant information you may have such as platoon, company, comrades or anything you might have. Michel
