I am currently finalising a Roll of Honour for Langholm in Dumfires and Galloway. I am trying to find further information, and a photo of, Sgt. W.J. Burrage of 17th Field Company, who I understand was born in Gibraltar:- William James Burrage, 1870846, Sgt., 17th Field Company, R.E. Killed in action 12/8/1944 aged 29, in Normandy. He was the son of William and Aurelia Burrage and husband of Anne May Burrage, of Frances Street, Langholm. In April 1942, when stationed in Langholm, he married Anne May Simpson, only daughter of Mr and Mrs A.J. Simpson, 1, Frances Street, Langholm. Interred in Bayeux War Cemetery, Normandy, France. Any assistance would be much appreciated.
My great uncle was in the same unit and died of wounds on same day, he is also in Bayeux War Cemetary. Sapper Owen Cooper, 1875695.
