I'm searching for information on Corporal Albert Joseph Holtom, 2nd Para Regiment. Was given the information from the Para Regiment to say, Albert never served in the Italian campaign but he has medals and letter from Ministry of Defence to say other. Can anyone help?

It helps the experts here to give as much information on your Corporal as you have; notably his date of Birth, Service Number. Even a copy of the MoD letter and which medals he had.

Didn't have to serve in Italy to qualify for the Italy Star.

    Hello davidbfpo
This is a copy of the MOD letter a family member sent me.
The biggest confusion is over the medals that he was awarded...
His Service Record only lists the Africa Star (with 1st Army Clasp) and War Medal. If you look through the big document in the folder above, you'll see a letter to my Grandfather from the AAC records office in 1950, stating that he had not yet claimed his medals, but had also been awarded the Defence Medal, 1939-45 Star, Italy Star and France & Germany Star. However, when we applied for the medals last year, we received all of these EXCEPT the France & Germany Star.
