I have recently discovered that my Great Uncle served in the 253 Field Company Royal Engineers. I have also found out that he was a "sapper" and died on the 3rd July 1944. He is buried in Hermanville War Cemetery in France at the age of 26. His name was Frederick Read, service number 5837766. Could someone please tell me the easiest / best way of finding out the movements of 253 Field Company following D Day? I would really like to know a bit more about the days that preceded my Great Uncles death and where his company was heading?
