From the Dave files (I just made that up) -

Mitchell FW159 of 45 Group (AT) Canada RAF - aircraft took off from Goose Bay, Labrador, Canada, for Rekjavik, Iceland. Nothing was heard from the aircraft after take-off and it failed to arrive at its destination. An air sea search was instituted but no trace of the missing aircraft or crew were found.

Crew: Civilian Mr Harold Nigel Egerton Salmon (Captain - Pilot) / Pilot Officer William Frederick Forster (1st Officer) J/37546 RCAF / Pilot Officer Robert Donnisthorpe Darling (Navigator) RAF 154047 / Flying Officer Eric Anthony Richardson (Radio Operator) RAAF 411831

In 1949 it was recorded that the missing crew had lost their lives at sea. (loss listed in book: "Ocean Bridge - the History of RAF Ferry Command")
