Found this in the back of the drawer. Its an original programme from RAF Aldergrove Empire Air Day 1938. It includes the programme of events, squadrons taking part etc... i also included some of the interesting advertisements. I also found a review of the Aldergrove Empire Air Day from 1939 and a photo of the actual event taken from an Avro Anson of 502 Squadron. It chilling to think that in a short time these squadrons and airmen will be involved in ww2 as the storm clouds are already gathering in europe. 502 squadron late 30's flying over the Royal Ulster Yacht Club. This is 20 yrds from my home. ALDERGROVE EMPIRE AIR DAY 1939 REVIEW avro anson bottom left of photo
Nice one....I like the shot of 502 Sqn flying over the Royal Ulster Yacht Club Thanks for sharing. Andy
I think that the 1930s must have been a magnificent time for those with the funds. Top class flying displays, Aldershot Tattoos, Spithead reviews, Brooklands, main line steam...and I'll have a Norton International and an Alvis roadster please...
