My Partner's extended family lost Owen Patrick Flynn last month. He never spoke about his time in WW2. These pictures have been handed to the family. I've been asked to see what I can find about him. He was Born in 1923. Lived in Liverpool. The picture in Tropical dress says Aged 19 Ismalia Egypt.

Any details any information would be great. His medal ribbons look like 1939-45 with a couple of stars. I believe he was in Sicily as well as North Africa. Any Idea on other medals?

    Hi,
Looks like he served in a RM Commando unit at some stage. The last two photos seem to show the straight titles and “dagger” formation sign being worn.

The “dagger” formation sign did not come into use until December 1945.

Pity it is not a side on shot as they sometimes wore a badge showing the number of the unit above the Royal Marines title.

    Regards

    Danny
