New Zealand mining disaster

    It struck me that we have some New Zealand members on this forum.

    With reference to the horrific developing stories: BBC News - New Zealand town of Greymouth steeped in grief for miners I felt it would be appropriate that we offer to our respected members who live in that part of the world our heartfelt sympathy for the dreadful outcome of this disaster.

    I think people got their hopes up after the happy ending in Chile.

    After the second explosion yesterday, the news was not going to be good.

    Condolences to all their families and friends.

    Mining has always been a dangerous occupation.

    My heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased.

    Thank you everyone. Yes mining is a dangerous occupation of which miners are fully aware of, however this tragedy has been felt right throughout NZ. Full credit to Peter, Gary and the whole rescue team - it was a tough one to have to go through.
