Not sure if it was actually taken too those battles, but I have no doubt that it belonged to someone or a group of men, whom served with "C" company I have just found out it is on display in the Airborne Assault Museum at IWM, within the musical instrument section I will have to go and see it there, methinks
I spoke with the curator at Duxford today and as others have said it is on display but I believe catalogued as a commemorative item rather than an 'actual artefact' from the war..... On another matter in our 15 minute chat he mentioned that certain items from the IWM at London that were donated by Major General Urquhart are on thier way to Duxford.....amongst other items a pennant and a BD tunic..... As the Hartenstein has a pennant and believes it to be the one he took to Arnhem and photographed with I'll let others decide which one went to Holland......
You cant ask for a better start to finish than the one you have had...... great end result and nice to see it in situ
Came to this thread via Ron's thread on folks joining , asking and departing....as Ron says a happy ending and well done Doug for taking the bugle "home" . Some more rep for your very decent act.
