I think its a late 1946 early 1947 enlistment number in which case I think you'll struggle to find any info on him

I have a few soldiers service books where the mend numbers start 19,0.... and they are late 1946 enlistment, so with this being a little higher I'm estimating this as a little later

So your saying the number 1911.... is relating to a military division etc rather than an individual person - sorry If I sound clueless just would have been nice to research the owner

    HI,
The link that Tony56 posted above
    ww2talk.com/index.php?threads/army-number-block-allocations.4837/

Is probably the best for showing number groups during the War, from 1920 to 1942 on enlistment you got a number from the block allocated to your unit, from 1942 they all initially enlisted and went through a single unit (the General Service Corps) which had a new batch of numbers and basically the later you enlisted the higher in the block your number - none of these lists include numbers in the 19 million range (as this number is), in my collection of service books I have the following 19 millions so they must have been an additional range added post-War - the number on the bag falls between the last 2 so I'd say he enlisted between those 2 dates.

    19011935 enlisted 18/7/46
    19030370 enlisted 8/8/46
    19097106 enlisted 7/11/46
    19097634
    enlisted 7/11/46

    19168761 enlisted 8/5/47

After 1920 the number is unique to the man (although there could be some duplication between soldier/officer/RAF)
