Hi, the excellent people on this site helped me try to track down my Grandad's best friend from the Burma Campaign, now I need more help if possible for the family of R. Ginger Carter from Dartford, Kent. It's his 80th Birthday coming up and he is looking for information regarding Ron Dawe, originally from Brixton and formally of the Royal West Kents before fighting with the Buffs in Kenya between 1953 and 1955.
They both belonged to B Company, 1st Battalion, The Buffs.
The family have not been able to get any information from the MOD and don't have the finances to get the info from other sites. Any help or pointers in the right direction would be a huge help as I'm trying to get any information at all in time for Mr Carters Birthday on behalf of his Grandaughter.
    Cheers

    Hi Claire

I hope you are still monitoring this site; I've only just seen your post. Try the Regimental Association of the Queens Own Buffs (the amalgamated Buffs and Royal West Kents). They have produced some amazing results of people who knew other people! Their website is <www.thequeensownbuffs.com>. First have a look at 'Research your regimental ancestors' and then go to the 'Message Board' and repeat your query. If the resident experts cannot answer you, they will probably print it in the Journal which reaches a lot of old soldiers of the two old regiments.

Good luck! Hope I'm in time.

    Chris
