Dear Fred, I am hoping you may be able to help me or at least point me in the right direction.I am looking for information re my father who was in the RAF, in Signals and who was involved in the Normandy landings, he always told me he landed at Ste Mere Eglise the night before the landings. I have visited the village several times and have been unable to find any information concerning British Airmen landing in this area which was predominantly an American area. I have also got my father's service records from Cranwell but they do not hold much information....he was at Chigwell(UUF) on 27 3 1944 and AEAF MSU (AEAFHQ (Unit) on 2 8 1944. My father died nearly forty years ago and I am afraid my recollections of the things he told me as a child have dimmed....but I distinctly remember Ste Mere Eglise. I would really appreciate any help you can give me , my husband and I will be in Ste Mere Eglise for the 70th anniversary and it would be good to have further information if possible, we were there for the 65 th Anniversary. With many thanks, Linda Gxxx Father's name: Edward (Ted) Gxx Number: 1694xx

Info comes from orders of battle by liut. Col. Jolsen. Hoping someone else more knowledgeable can help.
There is a thread on this forum which will probably answer your question. It has the catchy title of RAF Units in D Day Landings on Omaha Beach' by DoctorD. It concerns a British radar unit landing on the US beaches together with its associated mobile signals units. Mike
