In a German Festung near Metz

    The painter was the observer and the landscapes were the ones that he saw of his armored turret of observation.
    This festung is in a forest to Verny. Unfortunatly it was an army aera till the 80s and it is at present opened to the four winds. Soon graffiti will cover these frescoes

    Some really nice graffiti in these, as you say they will soon be vandalised.

    Excellent photographs of the underground fortress.

    Is there any chance of the Local authorities preserving this site? before it is lost to vandalism.

    No, it isn't possible. As I wrote, Metz is the most important fortified city in the World. There are too festung, fortifications, bunkers, blockhaus close to Metz to preserve all military heritage.
    An association has already restored certain forts but there are so...
