King George VI inspected the Normandy invasion fleet in the run up to D Day. Apparently he cruised around the fleet in the Southampton area. Just wondering if anyone has any photographs of this? Note: I'm aware of one photo which shows my late fathers LST (USLST 229) but am wondering if there is more out there - photos, map of the route, dates, time - all the usual stuff.
The IWM has a few photos, nothing spectacular. Search "The King with the Invasion Fleet, 24 May 1944". Tim
