Hi. I joined today, I was a bit bored today so I decided I would try to find out something about my family history. I remembered my father telling me about my grandfather who fought in the war. His name was Harry Boulter. I know he was part of X Troop but unfortunately was injured on landing. I know he also has a chapter in a book i think it was called The Guinea Pig Club or something along those lines. If anyone could maybe help me out somehow i would appreciate it very much. I never got to meet my grandfather, unfortunately he passed 9 years before i was born but i believe he was a great man and i am so very proud of him. Feel free to message me if you have any information, Thank you! x :)

The Guinea Pig Club was for people who were burnt and were treated by Archibold McIndoe. There is lots of stuff on the net but you might like to start here Guinea Pig Club - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Most of them were Airman though so I am unsure how he would have been a member... This might be the book you were talking about Amazon.com: The Guinea Pig Club: edward bishop: Books
Reference X Troop try X Troop 11 SAS | ParaData
Good luck. Might be worth getting his service record...

Just to add other information i know about my grandfather was he escaped Italian captivity in 1943, He was a L/Corporal and got a medal he was in the North Stafordshire Regiment. I also remember my father talking about (I think his name was) Major Deane-Drummond? Not 100% on that one but in one of his reports or interviews after the war he remembers a man he escaped with, i believe that man to have been my grandfather as to what my father told me. I have seen pictures online from x troop of all the men but unfortunately i dont know what he looks like, If anyone could get a picture or find a picture of him somehow i would be very very grateful x

Your grandfather gets a mention in 'WW2 War Memorials (not Graves)' on here.

Hello Sammy Jo and welcome to the forum.
I know it's not much but there is a page for your Grandad on the Special Forces Roll of Honour website. He was awarded a Military Medal for his work with the Partisans after he escaped capture.

    Best regards.............:)

    Glad to help :).

Have you looked at the photo on the Paradata website? It shows a group picture of the men that took part in Operation Colossus, maybe Harry is amongst them?? It may also be worth your while sending a PM to another member of this forum, airbornemedic. He has written a book which covers the Tragino Raid.

All the best and good luck with your search :).

That's a shame. In that case I would think that airbornemedic would be your best bet. He is the person that entered all the info on the paradata site ;).........
