Hell of a lot of propaganda... Not much substance.

Cracking propaganda! The chap at 8.32, with the field dressing on his eye, is John Potts - ex-GPR. I was only talking to him a fortnight ago!

    Hi Steve,

I'm interested, well nosey, does he know of this?

Years ago I saw footage on local TV which included my father sitting on a tank. Never been able to trace it, so this is pretty amazing to me ...

Is it just me or is You Tube really slow nowadays?
Takes forever for a video to load.
Gave up trying to watch this.
Sorry Marcus it did look interesting though.

I had no problems, Owen. Could be some of the ISP problems you were having last year.

    Hi Diane,

Yes, he does. I first saw the prisoner section some years back when it was included in historic background footage of Microsoft's A Bridge Too Far. Of course, the makers had got the wrong operation on the film!

Just watched it again. Seems a bit crazy that they can go on saying that "the enemy was defeated on the coast" as propaganda when the German army by then must have surely known that wasn't true. Great footage all the same.

Yes they say the enemy was defeated on the beaches yet admit that there is a heavy battle going on around Caen - sounds to me that the bag is being let down rather gently.
As has been said much of it is of a propaganda nature and was not shot on the day itself , nor indeed near the actual invasion area.
The escape route to Switzerland was good !

Oh the delights of the propaganda movie, we 've defeated the enemy on the beaches yet we're still fighting inland!! Lots of images of intent looking Germans listening to Headphones and being serious on the phone!! Lots of "Steely Determination" showing in this film. Good link though.

    Plant Pilot,
Several links are not available I believe due to legal reasons, including the one mentioned.
It appears idiotic to me, concidering that there is some really awful viewing on Youtube that is available here in Germany.
