From a heads-up by 'Karjala' on WW2F. Remarkable release of downloadable free-use images from the Winter & continuation Wars: SA-kuva-arkisto 170,000 shots, apparently. Large files too, from the ones I've looked at. Seems to be swaying a bit under high demand at the mo, and I could only get in via the Finnish or Swedish Entry points, but very much worth a shufti. Will be mining it for tanks in the snow soonish no doubt.
Merged. It's such a huge heap of images it's quite tricky to dig into, but is gradually proving worth it.
I can find no trace of this via the search function, but if it has already been posted the mods should feel free to bin this thread. 160,000 images available of the Finns during the war: http://sa-kuva.fi/webneologineng.html
Several years on from the first mention of this archive , I'm spending alot of time going through the excellent photographs. I've recently watched a couple of Finnish war movies & they certainly got things looking right .
My son bought this book the other day for €10, a bargain. Published way back in 2000 it has many photos I've already seen on the SA-Kuva website but seeing them in a glossy large A4ish book is so much better than a tiny screen. Kalevi Keskinen : Sodan värit : valokuvia Suomesta vuosilta 1941-1944
