The Cruel Sea is being shown on BBC2 this pm (15/03/20) The BBC's description is "A captain is haunted by the loss of his ship and seeks revenge" which is somewhat banal. How would they describe The Dirty Dozen? - "An American officer runs a prisoner rehabilitation scheme"? Any other examples real or imagined?
We Dive at Dawn A slightly better description for this film World War II drama about a mission to hunt and destroy a dangerous German battleship in the Baltic, which goes wrong when the British submarine Sea Tiger runs short on fuel. A crew member with a flair for the German language is forced to disembark on an enemy-occupied Danish island.
Saving Private Ryan (1998) - IMDb "Following the Normandy Landings, a group of U.S. soldiers go behind enemy lines to retrieve a paratrooper whose brothers have been killed in action." Makes you wonder if whoever wrote that missed the start of the film ;-)
