It would need much more detailed research to establish that he was in fact there and not on some kind of detached duty or in hospital at the time. Anyone know if the unit war diaries or other records are availavle at the PRO? May be something there.

This is my best picture of my grandfather George he is in the top row left of the rip any body know what the sign carrier would mean. Also one of the men in it looks like Harman the VC winner at Kohima.
