    Hello,

I am trying to research the service of an aunt - my father's elder sister - Frances Mary Swatton. However I have next to nothing to go on other than her full name, date of birth (28 Jul 1924) and a photo of her in uniform.

I believe she joined the ATS towards the end of the war and served in an anti-aircraft battery in the UK but all this is family hearsay. She never married and had no children. I have canvassed cousins etc to no avail.

Any help with how to proceed would be much appreciated.

The cap badge is for the ATS, not WRAC. The ATS:
From: Auxiliary Territorial Service | National Army Museum and more on: Auxiliary Territorial Service - Wikipedia

As manpower for combat declined women were deployed to AA units in the UK; the men were often then sent abroad to fight.

The WRAC was the successor to the ATS. See: Women’s Royal Army Corps | National Army Museum

Using an online search: "auxiliary territorial service" site:ww2talk.com id'd a large number of threads here.

Currently her name is not shown on the National Archives (TNA) website. That may mean her file is still with the MoD or it is one of the millions being processed by the TNA, so is not shown as available.

It would help to get attention for your thread if you changed the title to include ATS in full. Go to your opening post, select edit in bottom left corner and you get the option to amend the title.
